Economic Common Sense & Environmental Stewardship
Solar is one of the best investments you can make. Aside from the dramatic savings in your energy bill, generous rebates and tax credits can reduce the cost of your solar system up to 50%. Many people experience a complete return on their investment after 10 years.
In most cases when properly financed solar offers a lower cost of living. With manufacturers offering a 25 year warranty and an expectation for 30+ years of the cleanest greenest power generation how can you go wrong?
Costs: Although many factors effect cost, an average PV system currently costs from $7.50 to $8.50 a watt, which includes installation. This means for a 3,000 watt or 3KW system, one could expect to pay anywhere from $22,500 to $25,500 before rebates.
Rebates: Currently the California Energy Commission is offering cash rebates at $.65 a watt. This means that for a 3KW PV system, one would receive a $1,950 rebate to offset the cost of the system.
Investment Tax Credit (ITC): At the moment the Federal Government is giving a 30% Investment Tax Credit (ITC). This would mean for a the same 3kwatt system you could expect to see a $6,750 - 7,650 tax credit, depending on your tax liability. You should consult your accountant regarding your tax liability and it application to your solar system.
